Nalan has over 20 years’ experience in the meeting and event industry, ranging from organising large-scale consumer shows, rock concerts to hot air balloon festivals. She began her career as Project Manager for a trade show and special events company based in Munich before moving to Chicago, USA, to work for Hall-Erickson supporting the organisation of The Motivation Show – at the time, the world’s largest incentive merchandise and travel show. She joined the IMEX Group in 2002 and was an integral part of the team launching the first IMEX in Frankfurt show in 2003 and a key member of the launch team for IMEX America in 2012.
As Chief Operating Officer, Nalan has responsibility for managing the Operations, Office Management, Event Tech and HR teams at the company, headquartered in Hove, UK. Nalan is also involved in the strategic development and decision making of the IMEX Group’s operations and overall strategy. She works alongside all internal teams to continuously develop, innovate and implement a strategy for continued success; as well as ensure team collaboration. Nalan is a strong mentor and coach – assisting staff in implementing best practices within the business. Nalan has become a high-profile advocate for the business and regularly takes part in various events and exhibitions to represent and market the IMEX brand and the meetings and exhibition industries as a whole.
Born and raised in Germany, Nalan was brought up with a great awareness for the environment and a passion for sustainability. Nalan has worked closely with Messe Frankfurt and the Sands Expo, as well as all IMEX suppliers, to set sustainable objectives on which to focus on throughout the planning process and the onsite execution of both IMEX exhibitions. As a result, IMEX is now one of the leading exhibitions in the sector in terms of sustainability achievements.
Nalan lives in Hove with her husband and two daughters.
